With more than 25 years' experience in forest and wildlife management in both the public and private sectors, Bev Rinke is one of the most knowledgeable land sales professionals in her region.
Bev, who joined Westslope in mid-2005, oversees Westslope's properties spanning four counties that border Canada-some 300,000 acres of remote, lake-filled north woods country. "You can't use a street map to find my properties," she notes; many are accessible only by forest road or trail. Bev maps and prepares parcels for sale, in conjunction with regional foresters, and oversees the sales process from beginning to end. She takes a special interest in guiding prospective buyers on tree planting programs, timber management, and food plot questions.
After earning her diploma in forestry at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Bev joined the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, where she conducted surveys, inspected outpost camps, and established hiking and portage trails for the Lands Division. She later joined the Ministry's Fish & Wildlife Division, where she performed lake surveys and moose population studies, eventually assuming a position in the Timber Management Division. There she worked chiefly in silviculture: site preparation, planting, and harvesting timberlands. Throughout the years, Bev also served seasonally on forest fire suppression teams. She later spent 12 years as a field forester with Abitibi Consolidated Company of Canada, where she was responsible for silviculture, harvesting, and compliance with government regulations. Eventually, she served as a liaison for Abitibi to the Ontario government.
Like many of her colleagues - and clients - Bev is an avid outdoorswoman with an unbridled appreciation for the unspoiled woods that comprise her territory.
